POTS WITH PATINA. BIG POTS...LITTLE POTS...BRIGHT COLORED POTS...AND NO
COLOR POTS. THE GREEN POT IN THE ABOVE PICTURE IS MY FAVORITE POT. IN OCTOBER
2008 WE SET THE MOST ADORABLE PUMPKIN IN THE POT AND I PUT FALL LEAVES AROUND
THE PUMPKIN VERSES PLANTING MUMS. (I LOVE FALL AND WHEN I DECORATE FOR HALLOWEEN
OR "HAPPY HARVEST" AS I CALL IT, I DECORATE SO EVERYTHING CAN BE LEFT UP FOR
THANKSGIVING.)
HALLOWEEN CAME AND WENT...THANKSGIVING CAME AND WENT...CHRISTMAS
CAME AND WENT....AND THE WINTER WINDS HOWLED AND THE SNOW CAME AND WENT
OVER AND OVER, SURPRISING EVERYBODY WHEN IT CAME FOR ONE FINAL HURRAH IN
APRIL.
EVERY TIME WE LEFT THE HOUSE I TOLD MY DH WE NEEDED TO THROW
THAT PUMPKIN OUT. THE PUMPKIN REMAINED, SLOWLY SLUMPING INTO MY GREEN
POT AS IF IT WAS A SNOWMAN EVER SO SLOWLY MELTING.
THIS IS ACTUALLY PICTURE NUMBER 3 AND THE PICTURE BELOW SHOULD BE PICTURE
NUMBER 2 BUT I COULD NOT GET THE PICTURES CHANGED....SO YOU GET TO SEE THE ENDING
OF THIS POST FIRST. I WILL KEEP YOU UP TO DATE ON HOW MY PUMPKIN DOES......NOW I WILL
CONTINUE THE STORY IN PICTURE NUMBER 2 BELOW.
MY HUSBAND IN MAY, FINALLY DECIDED TO TAKE OUR PUMPKIN TO THE TRASH.
WHEN HE WENT TO PICK THE PUMPKIN UP THERE WERE PUMPKIN SEEDS SPROUTING
ALL OVER UNDER THE SHELL OF THE PUMPKIN. AND IT HAS CONTINUED TO GROW AND
GROW AND IT HAS BEAUTIFUL LITTLE ARMS REACHING OUT AND I DID NOT GET A
PICTURE TODAY BUT IT HAS BLOOMS. IT IS SUCH A PRETTY PLANT AND SUCH A
CONVERSATION STARTER...EVERYONE IS AMAZED...THAT A PUMPKIN LEFT OUT ALL
WINTER IN A POT JUST MAY PRODUCE SOME PUMPKINS.
********************************************************************
IT MADE ME THINK OF HOW MANY OF US ARE IN SITUATIONS THAT IT SEEMS WE
ARE DORMANT...WHETHER IT BE A LOSS OF A JOB AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE MELTING
INTO A POT WITH NO ANSWERS OR HOPE OR YOU MIGHT BE QUITE ILL AND IT
SEEMS LIKE YOUR BODY IS JUST WEARY AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU JUST WON'T
BLOOM AGAIN.........
MY DEAR FRIEND "YOU WILL BLOOM AGAIN!"
**********************************************
EACH MAN WILL BE LIKE A SHELTER FROM THE WIND
AND A REFUGE FROM THE STORM,
LIKE STREAMS OF WATER IN THE DESERT
AND THE SHADOWS OF A GREAT ROCK IN A
THIRSTY LAND.
~ISAIAH 32: 2
************************************************
THE DESERT AND THE PARCHED LAND WILL BE GLAD: THE WILDERNESS
WILL REJOICE AND BLOSSOM. LIKE THE CROCUS, IT WILL BURST INTO BLOOM:
IT WILL REJOICE GREATLY AND SHOUT FOR JOY. THE GLORY OF LEBANON
WILL BE GIVEN TO IT, THE SPLENDOR OF CARMEL AND SHARON: THEY WILL
SEE THE GLORY OF THE LORD, THE SPLENDOR OF OUR GOD.
STRENGTHEN THE FEEBLE HANDS, STEADY THE KNEES THAT GIVE WAY: SAY TO
THOSE WITH FEARFUL HEARTS, "BE STRONG, DO NOT FEAR; YOUR GOD WILL COME,
HE WILL COME WITH VENGEANCE; WITH DIVINE RETRIBUTION HE WILL COME
TO SAVE YOU." THEN WILL THE EYES OF THE BLIND BE OPENED AND THE EARS OF
THE DEAF UNSTOPPED. THEN WILL THE LAME LEAP LIKE A DEER, AND THE MUTE
TONGUE SHOUT FOR JOY. WATER WILL GUSH FORTH IN THE WILDERNESS
AND STREAMS IN THE DESERT. THE BURNING SAND WILL BECOME A POOL,
THE THIRSTY GROUND BUBBLING SPRINGS. IN THE HAUNTS WHERE JACKALS
ONCE LAY, GRASS AND REEDS AND PAPYRUS WILL GROW.
~ISAIAH 35: 1-7

What an amazing story of your pumpkin!! God does bring new life to old things! Can't wait to see if it does produce pumpkins! You may have started a trend...we'll all leave our pumpkins out and hope for more!
ReplyDeleteGreat scriptures! Enjoy your day!
Amazing!!! Debbie, this post is very inspirational.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this beautiful post!! YES everybody WILL bloom again, someday. For some it might take longer than for others, but there is always a ray of sunshine behind the dark clouds ♥
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration you give (me) to really think I too can come to full bloom again, someday :)
Love and hugs from Marian
What a FUN story!!! We really shouldn't be surprised cause this is EXACTLY how pumpkins would reproduce in nature. The pumpkin would sit on the ground all winter, decomposing into the soil - - -and becoming 100% natural fertilizer for the seeds it contains - - - and then in the spring, those seeds would sprout!!!
ReplyDeleteBut, even though I TEACH science and KNOW that is the function of a fruit - - - I STILL would have been as surprised as you were to actually SEE it happen in my porch pot!!!!
I LOVE it.
You could teach a science class using your little pumpkin plants!!!
What a wonderful post, your writings are wonderful, enjoyable & very inspirational. TTFN ~ Marydon
