"OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY"

TODAY IS OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY. PLEASE STOP BY AND TELL THE LOVELY
SUSAN HELLO, AND VISIT ALL THE OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY BLOGS WHO
TODAY IS MY FIRST TIME TO JOIN OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY.
ON APRIL 30, 2009 I WENT TO OKC WITH MY HUSBAND FOR HIS DOCTORS'
APPOINTMENT.
ON THE WAY HOME I BEGGED HIM TO DRIVE ME THROUGH ONE OF
MY VERY FAVORITE TOWNS GUTHRIE, OKLAHOMA. GUTHRIE IS FULL
OF HISTORY AND TRADITION AND.......VICTORIANS.
THESE ARE SOME OF THE HOUSES WE FOUND. I AM SAVING SOME OF
THEM INCLUDING THE HOUSE I JUMPED OUT AT THE CURB TO MEET THE
LADY WHO OWNED THE HOUSE, FOR ANOTHER OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY.

THESE NEXT PICTURES ARE IN DOWN TOWN GUTHRIE AT THE
APOTHECARY GARDEN. IT HAD FINISHED BLOOMING THE EARLY
SPRING FLOWERS AND BEGINNING TO BLOOM WITH OTHERS.

ON TWO WALLS IN BEAUTIFUL PINK STONE ARE THE DONORS
WHO HELPED MAKE THE APOTHECARY GARDEN POSSIBLE. SOME JUST HAVE
THE NAME OF THE PERSON THEY HAVE DONATED IN MEMORY OF, AND
SOME HAVE THEIR NAME AND THEN A BEAUTIFUL GARDEN VERSE.
WHEN LEAVING THE GARDEN IF YOU TURN TO THE LEFT, THEY HAVE THE
PHARMACY MUSEUM. WE DIDN'T GO IN BUT WE LOOKED IN THE WINDOW.
BEING A NURSE I WOULD HAVE FOUND IT INTERESTING BUT MY HUSBAND,
NOT SO MUCH.....AND IN ALL FAIRNESS TO HIM, HE HAS A BAD BACK AND JUST
STANDING IS VERY, VERY HARD ON HIM.

ONLY THE GOLD COLORED FISH SHOWED UP, BUT THEY HAVE ONE LIKE OUR
PATCHES, THAT IS WHITE AND GOLD...(ONLY OUR PATCHES IS MUCH BIGGER..
OUR POND FISH ARE MY HUSBAND BABIES...THEY ARE 6 YEARS OLD.) THEY
HAD AN ALL WHITE FISH..VERY BEAUTIFUL....LOTS OF LITTLE ONES SWIMMING.

EVEN THOUGH IT IS ON A DOWNTOWN CORNER, THE GARDEN, ON THIS
DAY WAS SO PEACEFUL AND BIRDS WERE SINGING EVERY WHERE. YOU COULD
HEAR THE TRICLE OF THE FOUNTAIN, AND THE HUMID SWEAT DRIPPING
OFF ME.....BUT BEING IN THE GARDEN IS MY FAVORITE PLACE.

THIS BLANKET FLOWER DID NOT TURN OUT VERY WELL BUT THERE
ARE SOME THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE BLANKET FLOWER. THEY
HAVE SIGNS NEXT TO THE DIFFERENT FLOWER(BUT I WANT TO GO
BACK AT A LATER DATE AS I EITHER THE FLOWERS HAVE NOT COME UP
OR THEY WILL DO MORE PLANTINGS NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS NICE.
THE BLANKET FLOWER LEAVES WHEN CRUSHED CAN MAKE A TOPICAL
MEDICINE THAT HELPS GOUT AND THEY CAN MAKE A MEDICINE
THAT WORKS LIKE A DIURETIC. (please note, I don't know if this is true
or not...it is just what the sign said)

  1. I sure enjoyed that "walk through" of the Apothecary Garden and the beautiful Victorian houses you shared. Sure is prettier than my neck of the woods. What a wonderfu town to visit, just tucked away like a treasure.

And your blog is a treasure, too!

Thank you for putting my son on your prayer list, much appreciated. We see dr's all this week.

Keeping you, your hubby, Amy, Leila, and those on your prayer list in my heart and thoughts.

  4. Debbie, Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. The Vicortians are so lovely. I like the one with the wraparound porch. I drove through OK last month on a road trip and everyone was so very friendly. I didn't know there was an Apocethary Garden in OKC! I went to the Chelsea Physick Garden in London last summer for the second time. It was wonderful! If you want to see the photo, click on the labels at the bottom of my post and look for the 'England 2008' label, or just go to July 2008 posts on my sidebar. Willow
