HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY AND I WON SOME B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L EAR BOBS

H...A...P...P...Y M...E...M...O...R...I...A...L D...A...Y

ON SATURDAY I WENT TO DUNCAN, OKLAHOMA WITH MY DADDY, FOR MY COUSIN'S WEDDING.
THIS IS A PICTURE OF MY DADDY AT HIS MOTHER'S GRAVE...MY SWEET, BEAUTIFUL GRANDMA
ZADA. AS WE WERE DRIVING IT LOOKED LIKE RAIN. DADDY SAID, "NO IT WILL NOT RAIN."
AS WE PULLED INTO THE DRIVE WAY OF THE CEMETERY IT BEGAN TO RAIN. I JUST
PRAYED, "LORD, PLEASE LET THE RAIN STOP AND LET DADDY HAVE THIS MEMORIAL TIME WITH HIS
MOTHER. THANK YOU LORD. 4 HOURS IS A LONG TIME TO DRIVE AND NOT BE ABLE TO PLACE
FLOWERS ON YOUR MOTHERS' GRAVE." IT STOPPED RAINING WITH JUST AN OCCASIONAL
SPRINKLE UNTIL WE WALKED BACK TO DADDY'S PICK-UP...AND THEN IT CAME A DOWN POUR.
GOD IS SO VERY GOOD TO ANSWER OUR SIMPLE REQUESTS, AND I THANK HIM FOR IT.

I CANNOT THINK OF A MORE... HAUNTING...SPIRITUAL...EMOTIONAL...HUMBLE...PRAYERFUL

DEFINITION OF MEMORIAL DAY THAN TO LOOK OUT AND SEE A VAST SEA OF WHITE TOMBSTONES

STANDING AS VALIANT AS THE PRECIOUS SHELL OF THE PERSON WHO GAVE HIS BLOOD

FOR THE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE. I CRY FOR THEIR BRAVERY, HOPING MY TEARS WILL

FIND THEIR WAY AS A HEALING BALM TO THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE SUCH A VOID IN

THEIR LIVES. I WONDER IF THEY HAD TIME TO WHISPER "I LOVE YOU" TO THEIR

FAMILIES AS THE GENTLE BREEZE OF HEAVEN CARRIED THEM HOME. I PRAY THEY KNEW

JESUS AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR. DID THEY CRY OUT FOR THEIR MOTHER EVEN

THOUGH THEY WERE CLASSIFIED AS SOLDIERS.

SO TODAY WE REMEMBER OUR LOVED ONES. WE REMEMBER HOW THEY MADE US

LAUGH. WE REMEMBER HOW THEY WERE AS BUT A BABY...AS A CHILD...NOT EVEN THE

TERRIBLE TWO'S COULD PREPARE ONE FOR THE TEENAGE YEARS. WE REMEMBER

WHAT PIE OR CAKE THEY LIKED AND BAKE IT IN THEIR HONOR. WE PICK OUT THEIR

FAVORITE FLOWERS, A LITTLE TRINKET. AS DADDY AND I WALKED THROUGH THE

CEMETERY, I SAW DIFFERENT LITTLE TOKENS THEIR LOVED ONES HAD LEFT FOR THEM ON

THIS MEMORIAL DAY. ONE PERSON HAD LEFT DIFFERENT SHAPED ROCKS ACROSS THE

TOP OF THE TOMBSTONE....BEING A ROCK LOVER MYSELF I DID NOT FIND THIS UNUSUAL..

I FIGURED THIS SWEET SOUL WAS PROBABLY A ROCK COLLECTOR. THERE WERE WIND

CHIMES...LITTLE ANGELS...BIG ANGELS...A LITTLE TRACTOR....SO MUCH LOVE WAS

SHOWN AND REMEMBERED THIS MEMORIAL DAY.

NOT LONG AGO I WAS THE WINNER OF VINTAGE GLASS TURQUOISE EARRINGS AT OLDE

DAME PENNIWIGS BLOG. NOW LET ME SAY THIS.....SHE IS A VERY HUMBLE PERSON

WHO HAS A HUGE HEART. MOST OF YOU KNOW HER FOR THE FREE GRAPHICS SHE SO

READILY GIVES. SHE DOES NOT WANT ANY KUDOS AND BECAUSE OF THAT I AM GOING TO GIVE

HER SOME PRETTY BIG KUDOS.....YOU ARE WONDERFUL OLDE DAME PENNIWIG.

YOU CANNOT TELL BY MY PICTURES BUT THE COLOR OF THE EARRINGS ARE VERY

VIBRANT. THEY ARE SIMPLE ELEGANCE AND PACKAGED SO BEAUTIFULLY.

WHAT HAPPENED IS MY HUSBAND AND I WAS TAKING PICTURES ONE AT A TIME AS I

OPENED THE PACKAGE.....WHEN WE WENT TO DOWNLOAD THE PICTURES, THEY WERE GONE....

I WAS QUITE EXCITED AND WONDERED HOW THE PICTURES COULD BE GONE......WHEN

MY HUSBAND DOWNLOADED THE DISC AT WALGREEN'S TO HAVE SOME PICTURES MADE

HE LEFT THE 35.00 DISC WITH ALL OUR PICTURES IN THE MACHINE... AT WALGREEN'S...

HE WAS MAD...I WAS SAD...AND SO WE TRIED TO REDO THE PICTURES BUT WE COULD

NOT PACKAGE IT LIKE SHE HAD DONE....IT CAME IN A BEAUTIFUL PINK TIN AND

WHEN YOU OPENED IT UP THERE WAS A VINTAGE FLOWER WITH A RHINESTONE IN THE

CENTER....AND THE EARRINGS AND SURPRISES WERE EACH WRAPPED IN MAROON TISSUE

PAPER LIKE LITTLE CANDIES. SHE HAD SENT NOT ONLY MY EARRINGS I HAD

WON BUT A ELEGANT PAIR OF BEAUTIFUL EARRINGS FOR AMY AND LEILA. PLEASE VISIT

HER GRAPHIC SITE AND CLICK ON FOR HER EARRINGS...THE QUALITY FAR EXCEEDS THE

MINIMAL PRICE SHE CHARGES. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED I WILL TELL YOU AND I

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY ONE TO YOU THAT WAS NOT QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP.

I KNOW DEAR LADY PENNIWIG YOU DON'T WANT ME TO TOOT ME HORN BOUT YA BUT YE

DESERVE IT ME LADY...LOL

MEMORIAL DAY FOR ME AND MY FAMILY WHEN I WAS GROWING UP STARTED THE TWO WEEK

VACATION WE ALWAYS SPENT AT EAGLE ROCK, MISSOURI CAMPING OUT AND FISHING.

IT WAS THE BEST OF TIMES AFTER DADDY, OUR DRILL SARGENT SCREAMED OUT ORDERS

FOR PLACEMENT OF TENT STAKES THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALREADY DONE YESTERDAY...

YOU KNOW THE TYPE. ONCE CAMP WAS ESTABLISHED HE BECAME A FRIENDLY SARGENT.

THIS IS MY BELOVED AMY WEARING HER BEAUTIFUL EARRINGS. OLDE DAME PENNIWIG

ALSO SENT A BEAUTIFUL CRYSTAL PHONE FOB ANGEL. AMY ATTACHED IT TO HER BLACKBERRY.

SHE LOVED THE ANGEL. LEILA AND AMY BOTH LOVED...LOVED...THE EARRINGS. THANK YOU

SO VERY MUCH. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A PICTURE OF LEILA IN HER EARRINGS.

PLEASE REMEMBER OLDE DAME PENNIWIG AND HER SON AS THEY AWAIT RESULTS OF TESTS

DONE ON HER SON. REMEMBER TERRY AS SHE AWAITS THE RESULTS TO FIND OUT IF SHE

HAS LUPUS...DEAR LORD WE PRAY NOT. REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING...PATRICIA, JERRY,

DONNA, JEAN, BILLY, ELLEN, LARRY, SUZANNE, JAY, ROY AND ELIZABETH, DORIS'S COUSIN,

IRENE, SHERRY, TONY, JESSE, KATHY AT MIMI'S GARDEN, NOAH, JAMIE, THOR, KRISTEN, RON,

JOANNA'S HUSBAND, GLORIA, WES AND CHRIS AND MIKE AND MO'S SON WHO ARE POLICE

OFFICERS...SUCH YOUNG MEN PUT EVERY DAY IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS.

UPDATE ON AMY: I AM GIVING HER A NEUPOGEN INJECTION FOR LOW COUNTS EVERY OTHER

DAY UNTIL WEDNESDAY. THIS IS GOD'S LITTLE MIRACLE: MY MOTHER HAD TO WORK AND

COULD NOT GO WITH DADDY TO THE WEDDING. HE ASK ME TO GO WITH HIM...I COULD NOT TELL

HIM AN ANSWER UNTIL AMY HAD LAB ON FRIDAY. ON FRIDAY THE NURSE GAVE AMY A

NEUPOGEN SHOT.....AND SAID, "DR. DEXEUS WANTS YOU TO JUST HAVE A NEUPOGEN SHOT ON

SUNDAY AND TUESDAY." THAT IS THE MIRACLE...WE HAVE NEVER GIVEN HER A NEUPOGEN

SHOT EVERY OTHER DAY BUT THAT MEANT I COULD GO WITH DADDY. WE LEFT EARLY SATURDAY

AND CAME HOME SUNDAY WITH PLENTY OF TIME FOR ME TO GIVE HER THE NEUPOGEN SHOT.

GOD IS SO GOOD. I HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL TIME VISITING WITH FAMILY I HAVE NOT SEEN

IN YEARS.

SHE WILL RECEIVE ERBITUX ON WEDNESDAY IF HER COUNTS ARE UP.

LEILA AND AMY ARE SPENDING EVERY WAKENING HOUR WITH EACH OTHER. THE TWO OF THEM

ARE BUSY...BUSY...BUSY

I THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AS AMY HAS SURGERY JUNE 10, 2009...I WILL KNOW MORE

AFTER OUR VISIT WITH DR. MEDINA ON JUNE 8TH.

EACH ONE OF YOU THAT ARE FAITHFUL TO LEAVE COMMENTS ARE SUCH A BLESSING TO ME.

I AM SENDING PRAYERS AND SUNSHINE YOUR WAY. WE ALL NEED EACH OTHER.

EVERY TIME A NEW PERSON JOINS AS A FOLLOWER, IT JUST MAKES MY DAY.

HUGS AND GIGGLES

Seems to me we're close to 'neighbors'...well, Oklahoma is right next door to us Texans. LOL

I so love the new earrings you won. What great luck. And I love turquoise.

  7. Halloo debbie...you are in TROUBLE GIRL!!! LOL...I am glad you liked the earrings...thank you for the kindness in mentioning them on your blog!

So glad the rain stopped and your father was able to place the flowers -- without rushing in a downpour -- at his mother's grave.

I know what you mean about the decorations at the cemetery. I want to be buried in a real simple cemetery where they allow that sort of thing. The fancy cemeteries don't have any heart. It's so nice to walk and remember the dead, and listen to the windchimes and look at all the decorations, and know that those who passed are in a better place now. They have "Passed" on to a different life, that is certain.

Thank you for the prayer request for my son, they can't find WHY he is epileptic, so we are just on big doses of that Dilantin (you guessed right) because he had a seizure on the lower dose. It makes him real tired but that is just a small thing, thank god for that medicine.

I hope Amy's counts will be UP UP UP and I feel she will BEAT THIS CANCER, and Leila will, too. Such precious girls and such FIGHTERS. They have unmatched courage.

As always, your blog is like an oasis of goodness in this big wide world.

  11. Debbie, Amy is so pretty, it's hard to believe that she is so sick. What a lovely post this was, and congratulations on winning the prize, and how kind to also send a surprise for Amy and Leila. You are the second person who has told me that they have trouble leaving a comment on my blog. I don't know why, but I did change the comment section a little, and I hope that may help. Prayers with you and yours, as always. laurie
