MY MOTHER HAS 4 CHILDREN...2 BOYS, 2 GIRLS...THE OLDEST
SON BEING MY HALF BROTHER.
MOTHER IS A HEART MONITOR TECH. SHE HAS WORKED AT
ST. MARY'S HOSPITAL FOR 31 YEARS...WHEN WE WERE GROWING UP
SHE ALWAYS WORKED IN THE LONGFELLOW JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
CAFETERIA, SO SHE ONLY WORKED THE HOURS WE WERE AT SCHOOL
AND SHE WAS OFF WHEN WE WERE OUT OF SCHOOL. SHE IS A VERY
HARD WORKER, ALWAYS GOING BEYOND WHAT IS REQUIRED OF HER.
SHE SEWS, PAINTS, ARRANGES FLOWERS, BROUGHT HOME ROCKS AND
DRIFT WOOD FROM THE LAKE TO DECORATE HER FLOWER BEDS, IS
THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS FOR DECORATING AND COOKING...SHE CAN
COOK A FRIED CHICKEN OR CHICKEN FRIED STEAK THAT HAS MADE
MY DADDY HAPPY FOR OVER 50 YEARS...SHE IS THE ONE YOU WANT
AT YOUR BEDSIDE WHEN YOU ARE SICK...SHE HAS A SERVANT'S HEART...
A DEEP LOVE FOR ANIMALS....DEEP LOVE FOR FAMILY AND HAD A
VERY DIFFICULT TIME MOURNING THE PASSING OF HER PARENTS...
THEY DIED WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER...BOTH WHILE I
WAS PREGNANT WITH MY DAUGHTER, AMY...BUT GRANDMA
KNEW I WOULD HAVE A GIRL AND MY SISTER WOULD HAVE A BOY.
MY AMY WAS BORN IN JULY AND MY NEPHEW TJ IN AUGUST.
MOTHER IS A GIRLIE GIRL. SHE LOVES NATIVE AMERICAN
ART AND TURQUOISE....SHE LOVES JEWELRY AND PURSES AND
SHOES...ALL TRAITS SHE PASSED ON TO ME AND MY SISTER.....
BUT EVEN MORE, SETTING ALL THAT ASIDE....SHE IS A CHRISTIAN
AND KNOWS THAT THIS LIFE IS JUST TEMPORAL. THAT IS THE
FREE GIFT THAT IS PRICELESS.
MOTHER HAS ALWAYS BEEN LIKE A LIONESS..."DON'T MESS WITH
MY CHILDREN"...FIERCELY PROTECTIVE...ANOTHER TRAIT SHE PASSED
ON TO ME AND MY SISTER.
WE HAVE SO MANY FUNNY STORIES AND I AM GOING TO START SHARING
SOME OF THEM OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS.
I LOVE YOU MOTHER.
I WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
YOU WERE A WONDERFUL DAUGHTER TO YOUR PARENTS
I ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT YOU PENNED IN MY FIRST BIBLE:
MY DEAR DAUGHTER,
FEAR NOT TOMORROW
GOD IS ALREADY THERE
MOTHER HAS 8 GRAND CHILDREN AND 11 GREAT GRAND CHILDREN.
MY MOTHER IN LOVE
IRENE HAS 4 CHILDREN: 2 BOYS AND 2 GIRLS.
HER OLDEST SON PASSED ON FROM CANCER.
SHE IS A TWO TIME CANCER SURVIVOR AND TOUGH...
SHE FELL OUTSIDE LIKE 2 YEARS AGO AND DID NOT TELL ANYONE
UNTIL SHE WOKE MY FATHER IN LOVE UP AT ABOUT 0300 AND SAID
SHE WAS HURTING AND NEEDED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL....
YES, SHE WAS HURTING...SHE HAD BROKE HER SHOULDER JOINT OFF FROM
THE BONE TO HER ARM WHEN SHE FELL.....SO SHE SUFFERED IN SILENCE
FOR OVER 12 HOURS BEFORE TELLING ANY ONE BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT
SHE JUST BRUISED HER ARM.
OUR DAUGHTER WAS HER FIRST BORN GRAND CHILD....OUR SON, THE ONLY
GRANDSON. SHE HAS 5 GRAND CHILDREN....4 GIRLS AND ONE BOY
SHE HAS 2 GREAT GRAND CHILDREN...1 GIRL AND 1 BOY.
SHE TAUGHT SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR YEARS. SHE TAUGHT ADULT
BUSINESS CLASSES AT AUTRY VO-TECH AND HER GREATEST LOVE WAS
BEING A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER...AND SHE WAS GOOD AT IT.
IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR HER TO RETIRE BECAUSE SHE LOVED
TEACHING SO VERY MUCH. SHE WAS A TEACHER THAT HAD THE GIFT
TO TEACH AND SHE TAUGHT BECAUSE SHE ENJOYED IT SO MUCH.
SHE LOVES CROSS STITCH AND THE PLASTIC STITCHING WHERE YOU CAN
MAKE KLEENEX BOXES, ORNAMENTS, AND LETTER HOLDERS....I CAN'T
REMEMBER WHAT IT IS CALLED BUT SHE LOVES DOING THAT. SHE
HAS A GREEN THUMB FOR GROWING PLANTS AND ALWAYS....ALWAYS...
WOULD SPEND HOURS PLAYING WITH HER GRAND CHILDREN...WHEN AMY
WAS BORN SHE SENT HER A BIRTHDAY CARD EVERY WEEK FOR THE FIRST
6 MONTHS OF HER LIFE AND HAS TAKEN TONS OF PICTURES OF
EVERY GRAND CHILD.
SHE LOVED TRAVELING WITH MY FATHER IN LOVE IN THEIR AIRSTREAM
TRAILER...THEY BELONGED TO AN AIRSTREAM TRAVEL CLUB AND
WOULD ATTEND RALLIES ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES. THE
ONE PLACE SHE DREAMED OF GOING AND NEVER GOT TO WAS
ALASKA. I WOULD HAVE SO LOVED SEEING HER REACH THAT DREAM
BUT HEALTH ISSUES PREVENTED IT.
FAMILY VERY IMPORTANT. SHE TOOK CARE OF BOTH HER MOTHER AND HER
MOTHER AND FATHER IN LOVE....BLESS GRANDPA RAGAN....IRENE WAS
HAVING SOME DINNER PARTY AT THE HOUSE WHEN GRANDPA RAGAN
CAME DOWN THE HALL IN HIS LONG HANDLES WONDERING WHAT
WAS GOING ON. THEY GREW UP IN A TIME WHEN YOU TOOK CARE
OF FAMILY AND HAD RESPECT FOR YOUR ELDERS. THEY WERE
VERY GOOD TO THEIR PARENTS. IRENE LOST HER FATHER TO
WHAT THEY THINK WAS LEUKEMIA, WHEN SHE WAS IN HER EARLY
20'S. SHE WAS A DADDY'S GIRL AND IT WAS A VERY SAD DAY WHEN
HER FATHER PASSED. IRENE AND MY FATHER IN LOVE ARE BORN AND
RAISED ARKANSAS KIDS...AND ARE CHRISTIANS.
I LOVE YOU IRENE AND WE WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.
AND MY HUSBAND TOOK THESE PICTURES OF PICTURES.
YOU NOW KNOW WHAT DEBBIE LOOKS LIKE.

Sweetest post! This is Jennifer from MaidenShade - I don't know why you cannot post my link, but am wondering if it is because I have wordpress and not blogger? I don't know - please let's worry about it later or forget it. 9 times is a valiant effort and I thank you for it. Blessings on this Mother's Day to you and the other moms. xxx J

What a lovely tribute to these wonderful women in your life.
ReplyDeleteThe Raggedy Girl
What a loving tribute to your Mom and "Mom in Love".....how dear and sweet. What wonderful women you have in your life. And, what a powerful message to those who are estranged. How hard that must be on both the mother and the daughter.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you....you are so dear.
Hugs,
Spencer
Beautiful post! Debbie, I agree with the estranged children. I only wish my mother was here with me. There is an estrangement in my husbands side. Two of his neices have not spoken to their mother in three years. I tried to tell them that they will be very sorry in the end, but they did not listen.
ReplyDeleteYours was a wonderful tribute!
ginny
What a heartfelt post, Debbie. How blessed you are to have both a special mom and mother in law.
ReplyDeleteAnd I speak firsthand, estrangement is HARD. It was the first Mother's Day that I didn't hear from my oldest-her choice, unfortunately.
It was nice to see you, too! I'm glad your dh took a pic of you.
I looked around for the award you mentioned, but the one I saw is for Laurie, I think.
My darling Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how much the loving tributes you paid to your beautiful mother and your dear mom in-law touched me. I read it over and over and tears just rolled out of my eyes. I love that you write with your heart. You just put it all on the table and I admire that about you.
Deanna :D
