PINK SATURDAY

IT IS ONCE AGAIN THAT SPECIAL TIME OF THE WEEK WHERE ANGELS
OF PINK GATHER AT BEVERLY'S... http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com
AND CREATE A BEAUTIFUL COLLAGE OF EVERY SHADE OF PINK YOU
COULD EVER HOPE TO FIND, ALL IN ABOUT 160 PLUS BLOGS.
PLEASE STOP BY AND TELL BEVERLY, OUR HOSTESS HELLO AND
SPEND SOME TIME VISITING THOSE BLOGS WHO LOVE THE COLOR
"P***I***N***K"
WHILE VISITING ALL THE BEAUTIFUL BLOGS OF PINK, PLEASE THINK
ABOUT JOINING THIS FUN GROUP OF WOMEN.

THIS IS MY AUNT'S PINK STAIN GLASS...SHE DESIGNED AND THEN

HIRED A STAIN GLASS ARTIST TO MAKE IT. IT IS HUGE: 4' X 4'.

IT HANGS ON HER HUGE WHITE FIREPLACE. THE FIREPLACE WHEN

SHE BOUGHT THE HOUSE WAS BRICK COLORED. SHE HAD IT PAINTED A

WHITE SEMI-GLOSS AND WHITE CARPETING INSTALLED...NO WAY

COULD MY HUSBAND, MY PETS, AND I LIVE IN A HOUSE WITH

WHITE CARPET BUT IT DOES MAKE FOR A BEAUTIFUL HOME.

IF I COULD INHERIT ONE THING FROM HER, IT WOULD BE THIS

STAIN GLASS. YOU CANNOT IMAGINE HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS IN

PERSON. IT IS HUNG FROM VERY STRONG CHAINS ATTACHED TO

BOLTS IN THE FIREPLACE. IT IS A VERY HEAVY PIECE.

SO VERY BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE IT. I LOVE STAINED GLASS. I HAVE SEVERAL
PIECES...MY FAVORITE HANGS IN MY PICTURE WINDOW OF JOHN THE BAPTIST
BAPTIZING JESUS....IT IS ALL DONE IN BLUES.

THIS IS ONE OF MY SWEET TEA POTS. THE PINK IS MORE IN THE MAUVE
FAMILY BUT SHE IS STILL PINK. SHE WANTED TO TRY AND IMPRESS
DANA'S STONE RABBIT.

I WANTED YOU TO SEE THIS ADORABLE POST CARD THE CAT CLINIC
SENT OUT REMINDING ANDY TO TELL HIS PARENTS IT WAS TIME FOR
RABIES BOOSTER. IT HAS THE SOFTEST PINK BACKGROUND AND SAYS:
SOME DAYS I COMMAND THE
UNIVERSE, AND SOME DAYS
I GIVE IT THE DAY OFF.
ANY ONE THAT HAS A CAT KNOWS THIS IS TRUE.
BUT I WILL SAY THIS.....THERE WOULD BE NO...NO...FERAL CATS IF
OWNERS ASSUMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR CATS...OR DOGS.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR CAT, DOG SPAYED OR NEUTERED. MY CATS AND DOG
ARE HOUSE PETS BUT ALL THREE HAVE BEEN NEUTERED.

THIS IS A NEW PICTURE OF AMY AND LEILA TAKEN ON MY FRONT PORCH
TUESDAY. LEILA HAS PINK CHECKS IN HER SKIRT AND TOP. HER THONGS ARE
PINK. AMY HAS A RED BELT AND RED THONGS. I WENT SHOPPING WITH
THEM AND IT WAS SO MUCH FUN WATCHING THEM GIGGLE. THEY HAD
SPENT THE LAST 4 DAYS TOGETHER. THEY HAVE ON THEIR BEAUTIFUL
NEW, NATURAL HAIR WIGS. THE WIGS ARE SO SOFT.
WE WENT TO DR. MEDINA ON MONDAY. WE LEFT THERE WITH A HEAVY
HEART. THEY FELT THAT AMY'S MASS IN HER NECK WAS POSSIBLY
ATTACHED TO THE JAW BONE AND THAT WOULD MEAN A VERY SERIOUS,
SURGERY WITH RECONSTRUCTION AND A TEMPORARY TRACH AND FEEDING
TUBE BUT THE MORE THEY TALKED, THE WORSE IT BECAME AS THE CHEMO
IS ONLY SLOWING DOWN THE CANCER...BUT WHILE WAITING FOR HER
BLOOD COUNTS TO BUILD BACK UP THE TUMOR BEGINS TO GROW
AGAIN. TO REMOVE THE JAW BONE IS QUITE SERIOUS TO GO THROUGH
AND DURING THE SURGERY THEY KEEP TESTING MARGINS AND IF IT
SHOWS CANCER THEY REMOVE MORE. AMY IS ONLY WILLING
TO HAVE SO MUCH REMOVED, AS WOULD I, BEING IN THAT SITUATION,
AND IF SHE IS NOT WILLING TO HAVE EVERYTHING NEEDED REMOVED, THEN
THEY WON'T PUT HER THROUGH THE PAIN OF REMOVING THE LOWER JAW AND
NOT BE ABLE TO REMOVE ALL THE CANCER AS IT WOULD GROW BACK.
THEY ONLY GAVE US A 20% CHANCE A YEAR AGO IF SHE HAD RADICAL
SURGERY, DID CHEMO, AND RADIATION. WE LOVE THE
LORD ENOUGH TO RATHER BE WITH HIM THAN LIVE A LIFE OF NO
QUALITY BY TAKING A BODY PART A PIECE AT A TIME. THEY TOLD
US A YEAR AGO SHE WOULD ONLY LIVE 2 MONTHS....THEY DON'T KNOW
BUT GOD DOES. I HAVE WATCHED AMY SUFFER WITH CHEMO AND
RADIATION UNTIL I HAD TO LEAVE THE ROOM AND CRY AND CRY.
I PUT MY HEAD IN THE PILLOW UNTIL I THOUGHT I WOULD SMOTHER
TO BLOCK OUT MY MOANS OF AGONY....SHE JUST MARCHED ON
NEVER ONCE ASKING WHY. JUST A SOLDIER DOING EVERYTHING BUT
HAVING A RADICAL SURGERY THAT WOULD LEAVE HER UNABLE TO EVER
TALK OR EAT AGAIN. SHE WOULD BREATHE THROUGH A
TRACH AND BE GIVEN FOOD THROUGH A FEEDING TUBE IN HER STOMACH.
HER AND LEILA BOTH STARTED CHEMO ON WEDNESDAY THIS WEEK.
LEILA GOES TO THE CITY AND AMY RECEIVES CHEMO IN OUR TOWN.
I TELL YOU PLEASE HUG YOUR LOVED ONE REAL TIGHT. TODAY
IS ALL WE HAVE. BATHE IN THEIR LAUGHTER, AND TATTOO THEIR
SMILE IN YOUR MIND. AND THANK GOD FOR THEM DAILY, AND
ESPECIALLY FOR THEIR HEALTH.
WAYMON TISDALE WAS A GREAT BASKET BALL PLAYER FROM
OKLAHOMA. I AM GOING TO DO A SPECIAL ON HIM TOMORROW.
44 YEARS OLD WAS GIVER PERMISSION TO GO HOME TO OUR
FATHER IN HEAVEN TODAY. JUST 2 DAYS AGO HE WAS IN OKC TO HAVE HIS
LEG PROSTHESIS REFIT. HE HAD LOST HIS LEG ABOVE THE KNEE TO
BONE CANCER. HE WAS A BEAUTIFUL SOUL INSIDE AND OUT
AND OKLAHOMANS ARE MOURNING HIS DEATH AND PRAYING
FOR HIS FAMILY.

"I WILL GIVE YOU BACK YOUR HEALTH AND HEAL THY WOUNDS,"
SAITH THE LORD.
~JEREMIAH 30:17

THANK YOU AS ALWAYS FOR SPENDING A PART OF YOUR DAY WITH ME.
I AM PRAYING FOR EACH ONE OF YOU AND YOUR PRAYER REQUESTS. NEVER,
EVER GIVE UP ON GOD, OR THE POWER OF PRAYER.
BLESSINGS
HUGS

  2. Thank you for the updates on Amy and Leila. I know Amy is your daughter, but somehow I missed what your connection is to Leila.

  3. Debbie, I can't email you from Sedona .....nothing works very good here. I am praying for Amy, you and your family and I want you to know how truly sorry I am this is happening to all of you. God certainly is with you and we know it is his will that will be done. I am having trouble with this comment, so I will close and talk to you later.

  4. Debbie, I completely understand Amy's decision. And, I also know how difficult it is to see your child suffer, and not be able to make it stop. I know in my heart that God is carrying each of you in His arms. I am so grateful that you have Him in your lives. Give Amy a hug from me, and tell her that my prayers are constant.

    Happy Pink Saturday, dear one.

  6. Debbie,
I will pray. I am so sorry, it must be so hard to watch your child go through this. My mother and I will both pray for Amy. My mom has a gift for healing prayer. Standing on the word of God is such a comfort when we face adversity.

Debbie, please use any artwork on my blog or in my galleries. Please e-mail me your mailing address and I will send you some artwork.

  11. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS. LEILA, THE GIRL IN THE PICTURE WITH AMY, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW IS
    MY DAUGHTER'S VERY BEST FRIEND.
SHE WAS AMY'S TRUE FRIEND THAT STUCK BESIDE HER THROUGH HER FIRST 10 MONTHS OF TREATMENT.......WE THEN FOUND OUT THAT LEILA HAD STAGE 4 UTERINE CANCER AND HER OUT LOOK IN MAN'S EYES SEEMED BLEAK....SHE WAS FULL OF CANCER THE WHOLE TIME AMY WAS GOING THROUGH TREATMENT AND DID NOT KNOW IT.
I THINK IT IS TRULY VERY RARE THAT 2 BEST FRIENDS END UP WITH CANCER.
LEILA IS LIKE A DAUGHTER TO ME AND MY HUSBAND.
HAPPY PINK SATURDAY TO YOU ALL.
    BLESSINGS

You are such a dear and wonderful girl, and so strong in the face of adversity (as is your daughter). What a blessing you are to your Amy. I will continue to hold you both up in prayer..Dodi's doing swell....she's even stopped limping pretty much. Thank you so much for asking and for your prayers.

    Big hugs to you....sweet girl,

  25. Amy's hair looks awesome, as does Leila's. I would never guess those were wigs, they are beautiful and natural.

I don't have any wise words to add to your post, just a sense of awe at Amy's courage, Leila's courage, their maturity, their beautiful personalities, their loveliness, and their tiger hearts, full of fight. Amy's burden of possibly saying "no" to the jaw surgery is beyond my mind to comprehend, her burden is so great, yet yours is as great, to have your beautiful child, with such burdens upon her, I am so sad at the situation.

If you lost your mind no one could blame you, yet you even offer such beautiful words to others, such as to love and hold tight to loved ones while you can.

  44. Hi Debbie,
Thank you for sending your love and prayers for me, I'm more worried for you and the girls then myself. I don't have my test results yet, I thought I would have them last friday but still nothing. Sometime I just don't understand why there has to be ugly diseases and cancers out there, mostly I can't understand why they hurt so much ....not only the person that has it but the ones that love them too. Somedays I just get so angry........my prayers are always with you and the girls and I think of you often.... hugs and love, Jennifer
