AMY
HAPPY ARE THOSE WHO MOURN: GOD WILL COMFORT THEM!
MATTHEW 5:3
TO ONE IN SORROW
Let me come in where you are
weeping, friend,
And let me take your hand.
I, who have known a sorrow
such as yours,
Can understand.
Let me come in-I would be
very still
Beside you in your grief;
I would not bid you cease your
weeping, friend,
Tears bring relief.
Let me come in-I would only
breathe a prayer,
And hold your hand,
For I have known a sorrow
such as yours,
And understand.
~Grace Noll Crowell

What a compassionate poem. It kind of touches on a problem many of us have and that is knowing what is the right thing to say or do when someone is grieving.
ReplyDeleteI went back through some posts I've missed. I don't pay much attention to what people like or dislike about particular blogs. I'm afraid I have been remiss in visiting. Maybe because I wasn't sure what more to say. It has nothing to do with your lifestyle or the way your blog looks. I enjoy visiting YOU. If I remember right you started a new blog but I seem to have lost track of it. I came by tonight to see if there is a link here but started reading and haven't even looked yet. Your writing is so compelling. I got a new perspective reading about how you've gone from having 2 children here to 1 here and 1 in heaven. It's not just about Amy, its about you losing a part of yourself. I didn't get that before. Which ever blog you post on, I will try to be a better friend, even if it's just to come by and quietly offer a hug.

God bless you. I pray your eyes will heal and that the Lord will allow you the beautiful gift of sight. I pray that you will be comforted and strengthened as you meet the adversities of life. That the winds will be at your back and the road will rise up to meet you (Irish blessing).
ReplyDeleteGod bless,
Elizabeth

ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI see this list of names, knowing that there are so many more that we don't know about...there are elders, children, and those inbetween...so many suffering disease. I pray daily for healing of those precious souls, knowing that some will receive healing, and some will not. That saddens me deeply...if only we could wish it away, but we can't. I know your heart is still aching, and will for years and years to come...but to reach out to help others is one of the best ways to heal our own wounds...may God bring comfort to you and your family, more and more each day, til the pain is lessened and your grief subsides. I know our Lord is with you, holding on to you, whispering quiet words of peace. You are His daughter, and He loves you so much. My prayers are always with you.
Mary
This poem made me cry. I lost a sister to cancer many years ago so it means a lot to hear words like this. Your blog is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful reflective, prayerful post. So many people have so many challenges...thank God for his mercy, grace, and miracles.
