HAPPY FATHERS DAY DADDY

I TOLD DADDY TONIGHT THAT HE HAD BEEN MY DADDY FOR 54 YEARS...LOL...I KNOW

THAT WAS NO NEWS TO HIM...BUT I SAID THAT TO SAY, HOW DO YOU THANK

A MAN WHO HAS BEEN YOUR DISCIPLINARIAN, YOUR FRIEND, WHO TOLD YOU HOW

THINGS WERE AND TO DEAL WITH THEM, WHO LEAVES VEGETABLES FROM HIS

GARDEN ON YOUR DOOR STEP AND NEVER RINGS THE BELL BUT DRIVES AWAY,

KNOWING HE WILL GET A PHONE CALL OF THANK YOU.

DADDY HAS MELLOWED OUT FOR ALMOST BEING 77 YEARS OLD. HE NEVER CRIED AS

AN ADULT, MATURE MAN BUT NOW HE CRIES VERY EASILY.

THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WENT WITH HIM TO HAVE AN IN-GROWN TOE NAIL CUT

OUT I HEARD HIM TELL MY SISTER, OVER THE PHONE "I LOVE YOU!"

I HAVE NEVER HEARD HIM SAY THAT TO ANYONE...BECAUSE IF YOU TOLD HIM

"I LOVE YOU", HE WOULD SAY, "ME TOO!"......BUT DON'T GET ME WRONG, I ALWAYS

KNEW HE LOVED ME AND HE MADE ME FEEL SECURE.

DADDY'S DAD WAS VERY MEAN TO HIM AND HIS BROTHERS BUT I LOVE DADDY

FOR HIS FORGIVENESS THAT HIS OTHER BROTHERS TO THIS DAY DO NOT HAVE.

DADDY WANTS TO REMEMBER THAT HE AND HIS DAD BECAME FRIENDS, LATER

IN GRANDPAS LIFE...NOT THE UGLY THAT KEEPS ONES SOUL TORTURED

THANK YOU DADDY FOR SERVING THIS COUNTRY IN BOTH THE ARMY AND THE

AIR FORCE.

DADDY IS NOT A "GOODY TWO SHOE" CHRISTIAN. HE LIKES TO DRINK BEER AFTER

MOWING THE YARD BUT HE DOES NOT HOLD A GRUDGE AND JUST LIKE ME, YOU

ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU STAND WITH HIM...WHEN WE GIVE YOU A COMPLIMENT,

WE MEAN IT...WE HAVE A LOW TOLERANCE FOR BROWN NOSERS...EITHER YOU LIKE US

OR YOU DON'T. FAMILY IS VERY IMPORTANT AND HE TREASURES THE TIME MY

SISTER AND BIL COME FROM ARIZONA, BECAUSE HE ONLY SEES THEM ONCE A YEAR.

DADDY HAS TAUGHT ME SO MUCH OVER THE YEARS AND IT WAS ALWAYS BY

EXAMPLE...A HARD, HARD WORKER AND HAS BEEN A BASS FISHERMAN ALL HIS

LIFE...MANY A BIG ONE GOT A WAY BUT MANY DIDN'T.

MY BROTHER, SISTER, AND I COULD TELL YOU SOME HYSTERICAL STORIES

ABOUT OUR YEARLY 2 WEEK CAMPING TRIPS TO EAGLE ROCK, MISSOURI AND

ROGERS, ARKANSAS. WE SPENT SO MUCH OF OUR LIFE THERE, WE SHOULD OWN

THE SPOT WE ALWAYS CAMPED ON.

I LOVE YOU DADDY BECAUSE YOU ARE REAL. YOU NEVER PRETENDED TO

BE SOMEBODY OR SOMETHING YOU WEREN'T. YOU TAUGHT BY EXAMPLE AND

YOU NEVER LOST AN OPPORTUNITY TO KEEP US ON THE RIGHT ROAD.

I LOVED WHEN YOU PUT YOUR SUIT ON AND TOOK SHERRY AND ME TO THE DAD/

DAUGHTERS BLUEBIRD/CAMPFIRE BANQUETS. I CAN STILL SEE YOU DOING

THE HOKEY POKEY AND TURNING YOUR SELF ALL AROUND. YOU WERE A LOT OF

FUN.

DADDY WE HAVE WALKED A JOURNEY OF 54 YEARS. I CAN'T IMAGINE WALKING THAT

WITH ANYONE ELSE FOR A DADDY BUT YOU.

I LOVE YOU DADDY

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

THIS IS MY DARLING HUSBAND...HE WOULD DO ANYTHING TO BE FEATURED ON

PINK SATURDAY SUCH AS WALK INTO THE DOOR WAY OF THE OFFICE WITH A

PINK SCARF AROUND HIS NECK. HE WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR ATTENTION BUT

I TOLD HIM..."YOU ARE NOT SHABBY CHIC ENOUGH!"

MY DH AND I STARTED GOING TOGETHER WHEN WE WERE 15 YEARS OLD AND OUR

PARENTS DROVE US TO THE MOVIE...TO CHURCH ACTIVITIES...AND SCHOOL DANCES.

WE WENT TOGETHER ALL THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND GOT MARRIED ON

SEPTEMBER 13, 1973. HE BECAME A FATHER FOR THE FIRST TIME WHEN OUR

BEAUTIFUL AMY WAS TAKEN BY EMERGENCY C-SECTION ON JULY 6, 1976.

HE BECAME A FATHER THE SECOND TIME WHEN OUR HANDSOME SON WAS

TAKEN BY EMERGENCY C-SECTION ON FEB. 12, 1983.

RICHARD MORE THAN EARNED THE NAME FATHER. HE WOULD CHANGE DIAPERS,

HE WOULD DO BATHS, ROCK THEM TO SLEEP...AND ALWAYS THE DISNEY LAND DAD.

I GOT TO WEAR THE CROWN OF DISCIPLINARIAN...YEAH FOR ME.

HONEY, EVER SINCE YOU BATTED THOSE BABY BLUES AT ME, I HAVE LOVED YOU.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY HONEY...WE DID GOOD, DIDN'T WE.

THIS VERY HANDSOME MAN IS MY FIL, AJ RAGAN.

HE IS A MAN OF INTEGRITY AND PURE LOVE

HE WAS AN ONLY CHILD AND WAS SENT TO OKLAHOMA TO LIVE WITH AN AUNT

AND UNCLE SO HE COULD OBTAIN A BETTER EDUCATION.

HE SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN THE NAVY.

HE WENT TO COLLEGE AND BECAME A SUCCESSFUL ENGINEER, NOW RETIRED.

HE HAD FOUR CHILDREN, ALL STILL LIVING BUT HIS FIRST BORN SON.

IF I COULD ONLY TELL YOU ONE THING ABOUT AJ IT WOULD BE THE LOVE

FOR HIS PARENTS AND HIS MIL. HE TOOK CARE OF HIS PARENTS IN HIS HOME

UNTIL THE DAY THEY DIED. HE WOULD GIVE GRANDPA A BATH WHEN GRANDPA

INSISTED HE DIDN'T NEED A BATH. HE DIDN'T DO THIS ALONE AS MY MIL CERTAINLY

HELPED HIM BUT HE HAD/HAS A DEEP LOVE FOR FAMILY AND WILL HELP IN ANY WAY

HE CAN.

WHEN HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN COME TO VISIT THEY HAVE HIS FULL

ATTENTION AND HE WANTS TO KNOW EVERY DETAIL ABOUT YOUR LIFE. HE LAUGHS,

HE HUGS AND OUR AMY WAS THEIR FIRST GRANDCHILD. HE CARRIED AMY EVERY

WHERE WE WENT AND THOUGH IT IS FATHER'S DAY, GRANDMOTHER AND PAWPAW

HAVE BEEN THE MOST WONDERFUL GRANDPARENTS. THEY LOVE, LOVE THEIR

GRANDCHILDREN.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY AJ.

I LOVE YOU

YOU HAVE BEEN A WONDERFUL FATHER TO YOUR CHILDREN

YOUR WERE A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE FOR HOW TO LIVE A SUCCESSFUL LIFE.

THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY TODAY. I LOVE YOUR VISITS AND I HOPE YOU

COME BACK OFTEN. I HAVE NOTICED SOME FOLLOWERS COME AND GO.

I ALWAYS FEEL SAD WHEN A FOLLOWER LEAVES BECAUSE I FEEL I MAY HAVE SAID

SOMETHING THAT OFFENDED THEM.

HERE AT THERE'S AN ANGEL ON MY FRONT PORCH, I AM DEDICATED TO THE LORD

JESUS CHRIST FIRST AND ALWAYS. I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A PRAYER LIST FOR THOSE

WHO ARE IN NEED OF PRAYER. THIS COUNTRY RIGHT NOW NEEDS PRAYER MORE

THAN ANYTHING.

I AM STILL LEARNING TO BE A BLOGGER. I HAD NO ONE TO TEACH ME OR SHOW ME

THE ROPES. I LEARNED FLYING BY THE SEAT OF MY PANTS, FIRST BECAUSE I

WANTED TO BE A BLESSING AND I NEEDED PRAYER FOR MY DAUGHTER AMY AND

THEN HER FRIEND LEILA. I HAVE CHERISHED THE FRIENDSHIPS I HAVE MADE AND I

HAVE CRIED BY HURTFUL THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN SAID BUT YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T

PLEASE EVERYBODY...

........THERE ARE DAYS I CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO HEAVEN...WHERE THERE

ARE NO MORE TEARS, NO MORE SICKNESS, NO MORE HURTFUL WORDS, AND WE WILL

DWELL IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD FOR EVER AND EVER.

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL WEEK AND MAY NO ONE SAY ANY THING HURTFUL OR MEAN

TO YOU. MAY YOU FEEL THE LOVE OF FRIENDSHIP AND MAY YOU BE A FRIEND.

HUGS AND LOVE TO YOU ALL

  1. Oh, My Dear Sweet Sister! How beautiful this posting is of our Dear Precious Daddy, Richard and AJ. You are so truly blessed with words. I loved, loved, loved every word about Daddy, and yes he was always pretty darn good at that "Hoky Poky". We were so proud of him, as he was the youngest and most handsome Daddy there. Everyone was so jealous. We are still so proud of our Daddy. Richard, I hope you had a wonderful Father's Day too. Debbie hit the nail right on the head about you. I can still see you telling the girls "I have my eyes on you". They are the adopted grandchildren you have wanted. Only, I am not sure if you adopted them, or they adopted you. Happy Father's Day.
Debbie, I will stop by again tomorrow. I love starting my day out with your precious words. I love you, Your Sister, Sherry "Country Wings in Phoenix".

  2. Debbie, this was just the sweetest tribute to all the men in your life.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and visiting..I'm sorry that I had never found yours before.
Yep, that cuckoo ol' Penniwig is a great gal.
    I'm following you now too.
Take care there in OK land.
Indiana is a little farther North....funny how each state is so unique. We've seen that on our travels. Customs, food, dialect, terrain. It's so interesting to see how states vary.
    Hugs, Susan

  4. What a beautiful post about those 3 grand men! Your kind and handsome father is obviously the rock-solid heart of your family -- your wonderful husband adds the spice and fun (I love that picture of him and the scarf, it goes so good with that big ol' beard) -- your FIL AJ is such a blessing unlooked-for and those are the best kind!!!

I am so sorry to hear that others have put hurtful words on yer blog, who do they think they are? I can tell you that they have a little shriveled-up and angry raisin where a heart ought to be. You have a lovely blog!!!

Hope Leila continues strong and that Amy feels stronger quickly and the weakness lets up.
